Apple has unveiled the MacBook Neo, a new laptop designed to bring the Mac experience to a wider audience at a breakthrough starting price of $599 ($499 for education).
At the core of the MacBook Neo is the powerful A18 Pro chip, bringing Apple-silicon performance to the entry-level Mac category. According to Apple, the laptop is up to 50% faster in everyday tasks such as browsing, document creation, and media streaming compared with leading PCs powered by Intel Core Ultra 5 processors. The integrated 16-core Neural Engine also enables faster on-device AI processing, making tasks like photo enhancements and intelligent summarization smoother while maintaining Apple’s strong privacy standards.
The MacBook Neo is designed for all-day productivity. Thanks to the efficiency of Apple silicon, users can expect up to 16 hours of battery life on a single charge. It also includes a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, dual beamforming microphones, and Spatial Audio-enabled speakers, creating a strong setup for video conferencing, content consumption, and creative work. Apple’s Magic Keyboard, a spacious Multi-Touch trackpad, and connectivity features such as USB-C ports, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6, and a headphone jack round out the hardware experience.
Running on macOS Tahoe, the MacBook Neo integrates seamlessly with the Apple ecosystem. Features like Handoff, Universal Clipboard, and iPhone Mirroring allow users to transition smoothly between Mac and iPhone. With built-in apps, enhanced AI tools, and a sustainability-focused design containing 60% recycled materials, Apple says the MacBook Neo not only expands access to the Mac platform but also advances the company’s environmental goals ahead of its 2030 carbon-neutral target. Pre-orders are open now, with availability beginning March 11.
